What?
New/Gently used items for students of all ages: backpacks (graduates from high school or college so they are recycled), open packs of writing or printer paper, computers, programs, pens, pencils (the ones you have laying around your house), clothing, shoes, sports attire/equipment, music instruments/equipment, and art equipment etc.
Why?
How can you expect a child to be successful if they are not prepared to learn?
Mission
*Backpack and school supplies for students in need regardless of family economic status
*Back to school haircuts, hairstyles, nails, free or reduced clothes. When you look good, you feel confident.
*Grants to purchase items for students to take specialized training or purchase course materials ie… attend , technical /trade schools, PVCC, UVA, or any other educational training including (books/supplies) for course
*Partnering students with internships with businesses, other students and community service
*Asking businesses to volunteer, donate or be a donation site 1 hour a month w/a child or at a school
*Tutoring program in person, online, on phone or after school (all levels)
*Interviewing skills for scholarships and jobs and resume building (jobs and scholarships)
*Provide clothing, shoes, as well as prom dresses or tuxedos donated (Pencil’s Closet)when you look good you feel good
*Pairing students and elders in the community (Life Skills/Lessons)
*Students recycle items after use (graduation) to another student (backpacks, calculators, sports equipment, instrument, computers etc.-a way to go green and help the community) grade level through college
*Teaching Life Skills (ironing, tying ties, polishing shoes etc.)
